” For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in.” – Matthew 25:25
Our community is our responsibility! There is a small settlement called ‘Gatjie’, where people live in incredibly poor conditions and struggle every day with things we take for granted. There are people who sleep along the Main Road between Cape Town and Muizenberg. The area between Diep River and Retreat forms part of our area of responsibility.
Going along on the soup drive, you will meet people who have fallen on tough times. This is an opportunity to be able to offer a warm cup of soup, which may be their only meal for the day, and you will be able to share Gods word with them.
Our volunteers drive along Main Road on a Wednesday evening, and share a cup of soup, encouragement and the word of God with them.
A contribution is always welcome in any form:
- Ingredients for the soup,
- Financial help towards purchasing the ingredients,
- Your time on a Wednesday evening assisting on the drive, or
- A hot pot of soup delivered to our soup drive leader, Gilbert Lamb.
Volunteering on our Soup Drive can be hard work at times, but it is very rewarding. If this is where God has called on you to serve, be obedient!
